That is what I have been saying! The child brought a knife to school. All the people kept refering it to as a spoon and fork.

So I guess lets just change the no tolerance policy for one kid. Instead of having him learn from his mistake, lets just give him the message that with offenses such as bringing a knife to school, the punishment for him will not be as harsh. This is rediculous.

Oh Oh, and New Zealand has a no weapons law and their murder rate (per capita) is significantly less than the United States.

Everyone, you can not overlook the fact that the kid also brought a knife to school. It was not just a fork and spoon. How can some of you miss this?

Could some of you please re read your comments and look how asinine some of you are! The child was not eating lunch! This is not the issue. The issue is that he brought a knife. The school will supply a child with eating utensils.

No No, all students (even the 6 year olds) are taught in the first month of school that they are not to bring weapons to school. They have a cute little presentation on it for them. This child was presented with the rules and CHOSE to break them.

Zero Tolerance means zero tolerance! There should be no argument advocating that this boy did nothing wrong! The article porclaimed that zero tolerance for weapons in schools has not proven to decrease the number of violent incidents.

Dave it is ignorant people like you that cause people to have fear and want to carry weapons. The zero-tolerance policy was not implemented because of black children.

Zero tolerance means zero tolerance! A boy brought a knife to school and if his punishment is suspension, then that is what it is! The article has proclaimed that zero tolerance in schools has not proven to decrease the number of violent incidences.
